Biography
David Benavidez, born Phoenix, Arizona in 1996, was the youngest super middleweight champion in history (won the WBC at age 20 in 2017). His career has been defined by being the most-avoided fighter at 168 pounds — Canelo Álvarez has held the WBC and other titles since 2021 but has never agreed to a unification with Benavidez. He moved up to light heavyweight in 2024 and won the WBC interim title. Pressure-style fighter in the mould of Julio César Chávez; throws 100+ punches per round at his peak.
