Biography

Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, born Watford, England in 1989, won super heavyweight gold at London 2012 and turned pro under Eddie Hearn's Matchroom banner. He won the IBF heavyweight title in 2016, unified the WBA / IBF / WBO in 2017 (TKO 11 over Wladimir Klitschko in front of 90,000 at Wembley — the largest crowd in modern UK boxing history), and was upset by Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019 (TKO 7). Avenged the loss six months later. Lost the titles to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021 and the August 2022 rematch. As of 2026 he is the most commercially powerful British heavyweight not named Tyson Fury.
