Biography
Katie Taylor, born Bray, Ireland in 1986, lit the modern women's boxing era on fire by winning lightweight gold at London 2012 — the first Olympic women's lightweight champion in history — and then turning pro in 2016 under Matchroom. She became undisputed four-belt lightweight champion in 2019 (UD over Delfine Persoon). Her April 2022 fight with Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden was the first women's boxing event to headline MSG and is widely regarded as one of the best fights of the 21st century in any gender division. Taylor won a split decision in a fight that went back and forth for ten rounds. Lost to Chantelle Cameron in May 2023 (her first pro loss) but avenged it in November 2023 at the 3Arena in Dublin to reclaim the undisputed 140-pound title.
